ᴘₒʟʏɢʟᵒᴛ's newest release 太陽を見つめる目 is ambient and lovely, and I have a soft spot for it. Each track glides easily between moments and sets up further ideas effortlessly. Everything rings out here and is covered in heat.

The Darvaza area in the middle of the Karakum Desert has one of the largest reserves of natural gas in the world. While drilling in 1971, Soviet geologists tapped into a gas filled cavern. The ground beneath the drilling rig collapsed leaving a large hole with a diameter of 70 metres. Expecting dangerous releases of poisonous gases into nearby towns, the engineers considered it advisable to burn the gas off. It was estimated that the gas would burn out within a few weeks, but it has instead continued for 49 years and is expected to keep on burning.

I liked Desired's self-titled release very much, so had to get "Lovestory" as well, its style feels the closest. Desired must be a fan of the 80ies "Cat's Eye" anime, as tracks 1 and 8 are from its soundtrack.
